i've been missing

my best friend.

laughing with

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one´s laughing at God when they´re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God when the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one´s laughing at God when it´s gotten real late
And their kid´s not back from the party yet
No one laughs at God when their airplane starts to uncontrollably shake
No one´s laughing at God when they see the one they love
Hand in hand with someone else and they hope they´re mistaken

No one laughs at God when the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news sir
No one´s laughing at God when there´s a famine fire or flood

But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they´re ´bout to choke

God can be funny
When told he´ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha
Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one´s laughing at God when they´ve lost all they´ve got
And they don´t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize that the last sight they´ll ever see
Is a pair of hateful eyes
No one´s laughing at God when they´re saying their goodbyes

But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they´re ´bout to choke

God can be funny
When told he´ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one´s laughing at God when they´re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one´s laughing at God
No one´s laughing at God
No one´s laughing at God
No one´s laughing at God
We´re all laughing with God

what's your verse?

O ME! O life!... of the questions of these recurring;
Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish;
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more
faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever
renew’d;
Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me;
Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined;
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.
That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.

-Walt Whitman

stale

A thought of this
Complacency-
the word, it stings
but still I lack
the passion with which
I used to live
and now I dare
to wish it back.
As of late,
my life has been
so light, so stale
as yet again
I fake my way
through word and song
the devil is here
to sing along
But now You see
I need to replace
this desire of old
with one ablaze
Come back, come back
you burned out flame,
Give me a hunger,
A thirst for Your name.
Your life you gave,
Your word you showed
It was love indeed,
with which You wrote:
“I will never leave
you, nor forsake you”
and time after time
You’ve proven it true.

lost

What do you do when things fall apart and you don't want to pick up the pieces because there's always that slight chance that things are better broken, than the way they were before?
Like dropping a glass just to see it shatter, we break our lives for love of destruction, to see something so beautiful disappear into a billion small fragments.

It's too broken now to be put back together, and some pieces are lost.

Why did I break such unparalleled beauty? Why does life pose such challenges? Why must I grow up? Why is the sky blue?

We can never revert to things long passed. We can only think back, and smile to ourselves at the beauty we once destroyed.

temptations

did you trade it in for gold, did you trade it in for all the things you wanted from this world?

did you sell out for a song, did you sell out cause you wanted so desperately to fit in?

don't you take advice from them, don't you take advice from them

i saw you stand upon the stage, i saw you craving all the edgy tales the wealthy critics gave

and then you fed from every hand, you forgot what kind of man you are

don't you take advice from them, don't you take advice from them

they'll sneak away your soul and you wont even know

they'll make you cross the line, and you won't fight your way back this time

don't you take advice from them, don't you take advice from them

don't do it
